World powers' support for terrorism provokes insecurity in region

TEHRAN, Sep. 26 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has said false policies and practical support of world powers and some regional countries for terrorism have provoked insecurity and instability in the region, especially in Syria and Iraq.

Speaking with visiting Iraqi Minister of Planning Salman al-Jameeli on Sunday, Larijani pointed to the commonalities between two nations, saying deep-rooted historical, cultural and religious commonalities would be a major guarentee for the development of political, economic and cultural relations, especially parliamentary exchanges, between the two countries.

Underlining that all regional countries are duty-bound to fight against extremist and terrorist groups, Larijani stressed the need for adopting a political and diplomatic solution to the regional issues and added that the Islamic Republic would continue with its policies to establish stability and peace in the region.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Iranian top lawmaker pointed to the numerous opportunities to boost trade and commercial relations between the two countries. "Removing banking barriers, facilitating trade transactions with private companies and canceling the visas of Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims can help bolster economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries."

Salman al-Jameeli, for his part, appreciated the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its exchange of experiences in the fight against terrorist groups in Iraq, and said the two nations are like brothers and the Islamic Republic has been a major obstacle in the face of extremism and takfirism in the region.

Pointing to the growing trend of economic exchanges between the two countries, Jameeli called for efforts to accelerate trade cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad.

He stressed the need for continuation of consultations and negotiations on regional and international issues to remove economic obstacles and boost ties in different fields.
